High-resolution electronic viewfinder with extra wide color gamut
Experience your creativity in a new way with the bright, ultra-high-resolution electronic viewfinder. It impresses with its fluid, high-resolution display and an extra large color space for more precise colors. It's the difference between a good picture and a great picture.
A new dimension of clarity
Thanks to a refresh rate of 60 frames per second and an impressive 576,000 pixels, the electronic viewfinder shows fluid images in full resolution - when taking pictures and during playback. The sharpness is impressively high across the entire image section. This makes it easier to check the focus. There is no blurring or loss of resolution even with continuous shooting at high frame rates.
Bright HDR display
Shooting in bright sunlight with lots of shadows? The electronic viewfinder with high luminance (4000 cd/m²) ensures excellent display and dynamic range in high-contrast situations. Even on the brightest days, details such as facial features or background elements do not disappear in the dark. For the perfect picture.
World's first partially multi-layer CMOS sensor*
The Z6III's partial multi-layer sensor is so much more than the sum of its 24.5 megapixels. It is designed to make this full-frame camera both powerful and compact - in every sense.
Together with the power of the EXPEED 7 image processor, the partially multi-layered full-frame CMOS sensor delivers impressive image quality. Its dynamic range and color fidelity are breathtaking. The phenomenal sensor scanning speeds and ultra-fast data readout ensure lightning-fast autofocus calculations on a par with the Z8 and Z9 and counteract rolling shutter distortion. They also enable the electronic viewfinder to display images at 60 frames per second - even if you take continuous shots at 20 frames per second.
Do you shoot portraits? The intelligent noise reduction ensures remarkably detailed JPEG and HEIF files. Even at high ISO sensitivities. Are you photographing fast-moving wildlife? Thanks to a clear view of the action at all times, your pictures will be fantastic.

Blink and don't miss a thing
Go all out with an impressive 120 frames per second and pre-release capture. Catch the decisive moment, even if it happened before the shutter was released.
Master the art of movement
Don't be fooled by the camera's size - the Z6III's partially multi-layered 24.5 MP sensor delivers performance that easily surpasses that of the Z6II. You can shoot 120 frames per second (10 MP JPEGs in DX format) or 60 frames per second (24 MP JPEGs in full-frame format) without worrying about rolling shutter distortion. Full pixel readout maintains the dynamic range. This means you can even crop without compromising image detail.
Top autofocus you can trust. Anytime.
No matter how your subject moves, the Z6III mirrorless camera stays on it. First-class autofocus functions ensure consistently reliable subject detection and tracking, even in the dark.
Lightning-fast AF calculations, on a par with the Z8 and Z9, enable remarkable precision at high frame rates. Deep learning technology ensures impressive subject recognition with automatic point-and-shoot control, manual focus or auto capture. There are also special scene recognition modes for people and animals: eye tracking is impressive - even when the subject in the frame is extremely small.
As daylight fades, before sunrise or at night, you can shoot for longer with an AF sensitivity of -10 EV* . In bright light conditions, special AF pixels on the camera sensor ensure that faces are in focus even in the shade or against the light.
If you are photographing still subjects, details in interiors or landscapes with a shallow depth of field, for example, the needle point metering area offers a very small, very precise focus point. Focus precisely on the element that makes your composition perfect.
*AF sensitivity of up to -10 EV. Measured in photo mode at ISO 100 and a temperature of 20 °C with single autofocus (AF-S) and a Lens with an aperture of 1:1.2.
Highly acclaimed 3D tracking
3D Tracking makes it easy to follow unpredictable, fast-moving subjects. The Z6III stays on the subject, even if it is extremely small in the frame.
Subject recognition you can rely on
Just like the Z8 and Z9, the Z6III can detect and track people, cats, dogs, birds, bicycles, motorcycles, cars, planes and trains.
Focus in the dark with autofocus down to -10 EV
The Z6III opens up new possibilities for where - and when - you can be creative. From snapshots to planned creative shoots. The camera recognizes faces and eyes even in the dark - thanks to autofocus that works in low light down to -10 EV. You don't even need moonlight. And for night shots without a tripod, the native ISO sensitivity of 100 to 64,000 (expandable to 50 - 204,800) is sufficient.
Image stabilization (VR) with 8.0 f-stops and focus-area stabilization
The impressive in-camera image stabilization2 with 8.0 f-stops allows you to take super-sharp freehand shots, even at night. If you use a NIKKOR-Z Lens without integrated VR, the Focus Area VR3 stabilizes the area around the active focus area - regardless of where it is located in the image section. A decisive advantage for creative wide-angle compositions, for example.
Let Pixel Shift cast a spell over you
If ultra-high-resolution photography has always fascinated you: Now is your chance! Activate Pixel Shift on the Z6III and you can merge several RAW files into one 96-megapixel image with spectacular colors and low noise. For best results, shoot still subjects from a tripod. Simply use Nikon's free NX Studio software to stitch the files together.
Flexible portrait functions
Do you take portraits? Get the best out of your images with the 'Balanced Portrait', 'Skin Softness' and 'Portrait with High Tonal Range' shooting settings for optimal skin tones and details.
With a great lens system
Unleash your creativity. With the Z6III and a NIKKOR Z Lens, the possibilities are endless for what you can create right in the camera.
Wildlife and action enthusiasts can shoot comfortably handheld with the S-series Superteles - with all the sharpness and beautiful bokeh that only an S-series fixed focal length can offer. The NIKKOR Z 600mm f/6.3 VR S and the NIKKOR Z 400mm f/4.5 VR S are both impressively lightweight: combined with the Z6III's powerful in-camera image stabilization, you can leave the tripod at home.
With Nikon's coveted fast fixed focal length lenses of the S series, you can present your subjects for portraits and works of art in a whole new way. The gorgeous NIKKOR Z 135mm f/1.8 S Plena delivers perfectly rounded bokeh in the background and foreground. Breathtaking clarity, sharpness and bokeh are also the hallmarks of the NIKKOR Z 50mm f/1.2 S and NIKKOR Z 85mm f/1.2 S Lens, both of which are as exciting for filming as they are for stills.
For limitless creativity, Nikon offers impressive low-light performance with the affordable trio of f/2.8 zooms and the wide range of f/1.8 S-series prime lenses. All NIKKOR Z lenses have a similar construction and controls, making them ready to use right out of the box. Selected Z Lens offer linear focusing for filming. With the (optional) MC-N10 remote control handle, you can make focus adjustments silently while shooting.
If your heart is set on an F bayonet lens, the FTZ II bayonet adapter (sold separately) allows you to use around 360 classic Nikon Lens without compromising image quality. The adapter itself is fully weatherproof and its optimized design allows you to shoot comfortably in any orientation. It is ideal if you want to switch from your Nikon DSLR equipment to the Z6III full-frame mirrorless camera.
Ruggedly built for your creative adventures
Compact yet robust. Super light yet durable. Weighing just 750g, the Z6III full-frame camera is perfect for travel and all weathers.
Both camera and battery work in temperatures as low as -10°C. This makes trekking tours in wintry environments possible. Rain and dust are no problem either: the high-quality weatherproofing protects the camera and the MB-N14 multifunctional grip.
Shocks and vibrations are no problem for the Z6III. When the camera is switched off, a VR lock is activated to prevent accidental damage to the sensor. The magnesium alloy front cover keeps the camera lightweight and is impressively shock-resistant at the same time.
It's not just the front of this full-frame mirrorless camera that has your back. The top and rear plates are made from lightweight Sereeboã-P series carbon fiber, a high-performance, high-strength injection-molded material with the same structural strength as magnesium.
