  • Fixed focal length telephoto lens

  • G-Master series
  • extremely precise XD linear motors - fast AF tracking
  • high resolution and balanced bokeh
  • suitable for professional portrait photography

Breathtaking Resolution and Natural Bokeh
The new Lens incorporates Sony's most advanced optical technologies to meet the extremely high standards of the G Master Series. The new FE 135 mm F1.8 GM offers exceptionally high resolution and distinctive bokeh - two hallmark features of Sony's G Master series. It also features fast autofocus, a compact design, and a host of professional features. This makes it an excellent choice as a versatile and powerful tool for professional portrait, wedding and sports photographers, as well as amateur photographers of various stripes.

"Our commitment to expanding the range of FE and E Lenses is greater than ever," said Yann Salmon Legagneur, Director of Product Marketing, Digital Imaging at Sony Europe. "The 135mm fixed focal length is our 31st Lens designed specifically for full-frame mirrorless cameras. We offer this popular focal length in the proven quality of the G Master series, appealing to both professional and amateur photographers. Sony thus offers up to 49 native E-mount Lenses for Alpha cameras. We continue to focus on true innovation in all areas of our imaging business to enable photographers and videographers to shoot and film like never before."

The FE 135mm F1.8 GM delivers consistently high resolution throughout the frame and even at f/1.8. Thanks to its innovative design with an ultra-aspherical XA element and a Super ED (Extra-low Dispersion) element in the front group, aberrations typically found in telephoto lenses are efficiently eliminated. In addition, the Super ED element and aspherical glass element are arranged to eliminate out-of-focus color fringes and maximize overall resolution for outstanding image quality. Sony's unique Nano AR coating reduces reflections and ghosting that can occur when shooting backlit portraits for stunning clarity.

The new fixed focal length telephoto lens utilizes an extremely precise XA element from Sony.
By carefully controlling spherical aberration during the design and manufacturing stages, Sony is able to achieve distinctive bokeh effects. A circular aperture mechanism with eleven blades also contributes to natural-looking blur effects in the background. The new model also features a transitionless focus for enhanced close-ups, allowing a minimum focus distance of just 0.7 meters and 0.25x magnification.

Precise, fast and easy
To ensure the Lens delivers razor-sharp portraits and sports shots, even in moving images, the FE 135mm F1.8 GM is equipped with a total of four - two per lens unit - of Sony's proprietary XD linear motors. These ensure that the lenses shift quickly, guaranteeing a reliably high focusing speed. A control algorithm provides fast control response and ensures quiet, low-vibration focusing. All these functions are housed in a small and extremely lightweight body weighing about 950 grams.

The SEL-135F18GM has numerous professional control features that facilitate operation during photo and video shooting. These include an aperture ring for direct and intuitive aperture control, and a focus ring with linear response for fine and fast-response manual focus adjustments. In addition, the Lens features a focus range limiter switch, two additional customizable focus hold buttons, and a focus mode switch that allows photographers to quickly switch between manual and autofocus as shooting conditions change.
