Limitless possibilities with the right camera

The world is beautiful, dreamlike motifs surround us always and everywhere. These must be captured for eternity. As every photographic situation and, above all, the preferences of individual photographers are different, we offer you a wide range of cameras. From smartphones, compact digital cameras and system cameras to professional devices such as SLR and medium format cameras. But analog cameras are also experiencing a rebirth. Instant cameras in particular are once again setting a new trend. In addition to cameras for photos, you will also find camcorders, video cameras and action cams at Foto Koch.

When choosing the right digital camera, the factors of quality, flexibility, speed, sensor, resolution, light sensitivity, size, weight and existing equipment such as Lens and flash units play a central role. When buying a camera, these factors should be weighed up against the intended use. If you often travel or always have a camera with you, compact and lightweight solutions are recommended. If you always want to achieve maximum image quality and are not dependent on great mobility, the use of professional devices is recommended. Your photographic requirements also play a role. Professional photographers have higher demands on resolution, speed and noise behavior (especially at high ISO values) than amateur photographers.

The sensor size has a decisive influence on image quality. The larger the sensor, the better the dynamic range and image noise. Furthermore, large sensors have a shallower depth of field, which leaves more options open in terms of creativity and spatiality.

System cameras - compact and flexible

Mirrorless system cameras are becoming increasingly popular. As no mirror is used, a compact design is possible. A high degree of flexibility is offered by interchangeable lenses and various accessory options. System cameras also offer brilliant image quality at SLR level. This makes them the ideal companion for all photographers who are looking for very good image quality with little luggage. System cameras also have their advantages in the street and travel sector, as their compactness makes them less intimidating to photographers. Some of the cameras are already equipped with large full-frame sensors and therefore offer professional quality. We offer system cameras, for example, from Canon, Fujifilm, Leica, Nikon, Olympus, Panasonic, Pentax and Sony an.

SLR and medium format cameras - top quality and flexibility

Digital single-lens reflex cameras are the classic. One reason for this is the decades of development that have resulted in an enormous number of Lens, flash units and other accessories available today. This gives you more flexibility than with any other camera system. In addition, SLR cameras score highly in terms of speed, which is particularly important for sports and animal photography as well as for snapshots where speed is of the essence. Another advantage is the feel. SLR cameras usually have a better grip and are therefore easier to hold. The sensor size is an important point when deciding on a camera. SLR cameras are generally available in APS-C/DX format or full format sensor sizes. Larger sensors are offered by digital medium format cameras. We offer digital SLR cameras from the largest manufacturers such as Canon, Nikon, Pentax. Digital medium format cameras are available, for example, from Pentax and Hasselblad.

Compact cameras - always with you

Compact digital cameras are the ideal solution for anyone looking for something small and light for their jacket pocket. They are quickly ready for use and can always be taken with you thanks to their low weight and size. In addition to the classic compact cameras, more and more professional devices with a larger sensor, manual setting options and better image quality are now coming into focus. These are particularly suitable for photographers who are looking for a lightweight option on the go, but still want to take high-quality photos. You will find compact cameras from Canon, Fujifilm, Leica, Nikon, Olympus, Panasonic, Pentax, Ricoh and Sony.

Full-frame cameras - Size Matters

A camera with a full-frame sensor offers even more creative possibilities. Due to the larger sensor and the usually higher resolution compared to smaller sensors, the images can be reproduced crystal clear. Less image noise and more detail are also among the advantages of a full-format camera.
Full-frame cameras are available both as digital SLR cameras and as system cameras. We offer full-frame cameras from, among others Canon, Leica, Nikon, Pentax andSony.

Questions about cameras and photography

In the following we would like to answer some questions about cameras and photography.

When are cameras cheap to buy?

Cameras are usually a cost-intensive purchase, of course we want to offer you the best prices, so always keep an eye on our promotions and the Deal Area and of course our in-house exhibition. If it doesn't necessarily have to be a new camera, then take a look at our second-hand opportunities.

What accessories do I need for my camera?

There is no general answer to this question, because you know your areas of use better than we can say without further context. But one thing is clear: cameras usually have to be transported, so it makes sense to have a suitable bag/backpack to protect your back and equipment. In addition to a comfortable backpack with plenty of storage space, a tripod is also a good choice. A tripod offers many possibilities for different types of photography: landscape, architecture, macro and also studio photography. A small cleaning kit works wonders, as dirt collects everywhere and is most noticeable on the sensor.

Which cameras are suitable for beginners?

Until a few years ago, you would have been told to buy a cheap APS-C camera, but now the prices are very similar and a full-frame camera can now be used by beginners in exactly the same way. This has the advantage that you don't necessarily have to buy new lenses if you already own a full-frame camera. This is because there are special APSC lenses that cannot be used on full-frame cameras. We recommend buying a mirrorless camera as it offers many technical advantages such as autofocus for faces, eyes, animals and much more.

Which lenses do I need to start with?

If you are looking for what you would like to photograph, you should consider buying 2-3 lenses first. For example, a zoom lens and a fixed focal length. This way you challenge yourself: with the zoom you experience the flexibility that comes with it, but accept the loss of light intensity. The fixed focal length forces you to deal with perspective, cropping and much more. You'll see which type of Lens suits you better. Of course, it won't help you to find your subject yet, but you will gain experience and technical understanding.
