Limitless possibilities with the right camera

The world is beautiful, dreamlike motifs surround us, anywhere and at all times. These must be captured for eternity. Since every photographic situation and especially the preferences of individual photographers are different, we offer a variety of cameras. From smartphones to compact digital cameras and system cameras to professional devices such as SLR and medium format cameras. But analog cameras are also experiencing a revival. Instant cameras in particular are setting a new trend again. In addition to cameras for photos, you will also find camcorders, video cameras and action cams at Foto Koch.

When choosing the right digital camera, the factors quality, flexibility, speed, sensor, resolution, light sensitivity, size, weight as well as existing equipment such as lenses and flash units play a central role. These factors should be compared with the intended uses when buying a camera. If you travel often or always have a camera with you on the road, compact and lightweight solutions are recommended. If you always want to achieve the maximum image quality and are not dependent on great mobility, the use of professional equipment is recommended. Your photographic requirements also play an important role. Professional photographers have higher demands for great resolution, speed and noise behavior (especially at high ISO values) than hobby photographers.

The sensor size has a decisive influence on the image quality. The larger the sensor, the better the dynamic range and image noise. Furthermore, large sensors have a shallower depth of field, which leaves more options open in terms of creativity and space.

Our expert advisors will be happy to help you choose the right camera. To do so, call our service telephone at 0049 211 - 17 88 00

System cameras - compactly flexible

Mirrorless system cameras are becoming increasingly popular. Since no mirror is used, a compact design is possible. A high degree of flexibility is offered by interchangeable lenses and various accessory options. System cameras also offer brilliant image quality at SLR level. This makes them the ideal companion for all photographers who are looking for small luggage and very good image quality. System cameras also have their advantages in the area of street and travel, since the compact size is less likely to scare away people you want to photograph. Some of the cameras are already equipped with large full-format sensors and thus offer professional quality. We offer system cameras, for example, from Canon, Fujifilm, Leica, Nikon, Olympus, Panasonic, Pentax and Sony

SLR and medium format cameras - best quality and flexibility

Digital single-lens reflex cameras are the go-to classic. One reason for this is the decades of development that have resulted in an enormous number of lenses, flash units and other accessories. This gives you more variety than with any other camera system. In addition, SLR cameras score in terms of speed, which is especially crucial for sports and wildlife photography, as well as for snapshots of fast-moving things. Another advantage are the haptics. SLR cameras usually have a better grip and thus fit better in the hand. When deciding on a camera, the sensor size is an important point. SLR cameras usually come in APS-C/DX format or full-frame sensor sizes. Larger sensors are offered by digital medium format cameras. We offer digital SLR cameras from the largest manufacturers such as Canon, Nikon, Pentax and Sony. Digital medium format cameras are available for example from Pentax and Hasselblad.

Compact cameras - always with you

Compact digital cameras are the ideal solution for anyone looking for something small and lightweight to keep on their person. They are quickly ready for use and can always be taken along thanks to their light weight and size. In addition to the classic compact cameras, there is now an increasing focus on more professional devices with a larger sensor, manual setting options and better image quality. These are particularly suitable for photographers who are looking for a lightweight option when on the move, but still want to take high-quality photos. Among other things, you will find compact cameras from Canon, Fujifilm, Leica, Nikon, Olympus, Panasonic, Pentax, Ricoh, Sigma and Sony.

To compact cameras

Full-frame cameras - Size Matters

A camera with a full-frame sensor offers even more creative possibilities. Due to the larger sensor and the usually higher resolution compared to smaller sensors, the images can be depicted in amazing quality. The advantages of a full-format camera also include less image noise and more detail.
Full-format cameras are available as digital SLR cameras, but also as system cameras. You will find full-format cameras by Canon, Leica, Nikon, Pentax andSony.

Questions about photography cameras

Below we want to answer some questions around cameras and photography.

When are cameras cheap to buy?

Cameras are usually a costly purchase, of course we want to offer you the best prices, so always keep an eye on our promotions and the Deal Area and of course our in-house exhibition. If it doesn't necessarily have to be a new camera, then take a look at our opportunities / second hand.

What accessories do I need for my camera?

This can't be answered in general because you know your areas of use better than we do without further context. But one thing is clear: Usually cameras have to be transported, so it makes sense to have a suitable bag / backpack to protect the back and the equipment inside. Besides a comfortable and storage space offering backpack, a tripod is also not a wrong decision. A tripod offers many possibilities for different types of photography: landscape, architecture, macro but it also can be used in studio photography. A small cleaning kit is very useful because dirt accumulates everywhere and is most noticeable on the sensor.

Which cameras are suitable for beginners?

Until a few years ago you would've been told to buy a cheap APS-C camera, now the prices are similar and a full frame camera can now be used just as well by a beginner. This has the advantage that the lenses do not necessarily have to be bought new if you already own a full-frame camera. There are special APSC lenses that cannot be used on full frame cameras. We advise you to buy a mirrorless camera, because it offers many technical advantages like an autofocus for faces, eyes, animals and much more.

Which lenses do I need at the start?

If you are looking for what you would like to photograph, you should consider buying 2-3 lenses first. For example, a zoom lens and a fixed focal length. By doing so, you challenge yourself: with the zoom, you experience the flexibility that comes with it, but accept the loss of light gathering power. The fixed focal length forces you to deal with perspective, cropping, and much more. So you'll see for yourself what kind of lens suits you best. Of course, it won't help you find your subject yet, but you'll gain experience and technical understanding.
